Here in GotSaga is a smart group of people, what are your thoughts about this..?
ABORTION A 9-year-old girl who was carrying twins, and whose stepfather is suspected of raping her, underwent an abortion on Wednesday despite complaints from Brazil's Roman Catholic Church. The stepfather has been jailed since last week, the police said. Abortion is illegal in Brazil, the country with the most Roman Catholics, but judges can make exceptions if the mother's life is in danger or the fetus has no chance of survival. Fatima Maia, director of the public university hospital where the abortion was performed, said the pregnancy, which was in its 15th week, posed a serious risk to the girl, who weighs 80 pounds. But Marcio Miranda, a lawyer for the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife in northeastern Brazil, said the girl should have carried the twins to term and had a Caesarean section. "It's the law of God: Do not kill," he said in comments reported by the newspaper O Globo.
The stepfather should be put away for life....

I think the doctor did the right thing. Of course the girl will be scarred for life physically and emotionally. I hope there are some stable family members or friends to help her become a strong independent woman who is capable of trust and love. Holly

Unbelievable - A little Nine year old female - It may be illegal for abortion - But hey she should not have even had the sex let alone give birth to a baby at her age. Castrate the step-father - . There should have been 11 commandments - the eleventh should have been "Men do not have the right to Violate the womans body" What a sad story

I would tend to agree with Britinromania that many persons are more into power than the religion and feel deeply for the child, mother and those unborn. I doubt seriously that either the young mother or babies could have survived and do not believe abortion should be used as birth control, but they likely saved the only life that could be saved. The stepfather should be put away for life as he not only betrayed his wife but the trust of an innocent child, and while a 9 year old girl may think she knows things she is still innocent.

Although I am a Christian, I have seen and witnessed too many things that make me believe that the Churches and the heads who run them are more into personal power, especially over females than they are into Christianity. They can condone paedophiles, yet when it suits them they can enforce by fear the trauma they want to...it is not fair that this child should have to go through such a terrible experience becuse a few powerful and corrupt men want to exploit her and use their own interpretation of Gods word to suit themselves..The Church is corrupt, God real love of Jesus is in the hearts of the ordinary people, not those in their ornate robes and ivory towers..My heart goes out to this unfortunate child..I hope that the stepfather is in jail for his life for rape...and one day he will have to face God himself for his diabolitical actions.Pray for the little girl please

I truly believe that life begins the moment of conception. And that abortion should only be done if the risk of mother and child are a risk. But not because they don't want another mouth to feed! Or what ever the excuse maybe, there are to many couples willing to adopt!
